The girls begin to adjust to Miranda's new life with her newborn, which Samantha has a hard time with. Charlotte decides she's finally over Trey and goes out to find her next love, but Carrie, on the other hand, starts to think she's out of great loves now that both Aiden and Big are gone. Meanwhile, Samantha tries to get Richard back and Miranda tries to get the hang of breastfeeding.

Richard declares his love to Samantha and buys her a big ring to show his forgiveness. Carrie thinks that she's getting fired, but the editor has great news for her instead. Meanwhile, Steve wants Brady to be baptized, and Miranda asks Carrie to be his Godmother.

For Charlotte's 36th birthday, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte go with Samantha to Atlantic City on Richard's jet. The entire trip, Charlotte worries she'll become an old maid, Miranda only wants to catch up on sleep, and Samantha is pre-occupied keeping an eye on Richard. Meanwhile, Carrie realizes that she has to gamble in life and not continue to hide.

Now that Carrie has a book deal, she and Samantha go to Barnes and Noble in search of cover ideas. Together, they come up with something 'smart and sexy'. Samantha begins to think that she's too old to have the lifestyle that she's living, and Charlotte, still worried she'll be an old maid, secretly consults self-help books for advice. Miranda continues to try to lose baby fat by joining Weight Watchers, where she meets Tom Big Boned.

Carrie gets ready for her book release party but has a hard time finding a 'plus one' to accompany her to the party. Samantha gets ready for the party by having a chemical peel, which turns out disastrous. Charlotte finds the perfect 'plus one' but when Bunny ruins her plans. Meanwhile, Miranda has to adjust to dating now that she's a single mother.

Carrie runs into a woman who dated Aiden after her, and worries when she implies that Carrie really hurt Aiden. Later, she reads her rave book reviews in the New York Times. Meanwhile, Miranda continues having a hard time being a mother, and Charlotte confronts Bunny.

Carrie travels to San Francisco on her book tour, and Samantha accompanies her. There, Carrie tries to get Big to sleep with her, but has no such luck. Charlotte is given divorce papers by her lawyer, and ends up having sex with him.

The girls are invited to one of Carrie's friend's, who was supposedly gay, wedding to a woman. Harry invites Charlotte to be his date, and accepts, on one condition. Samantha arranges for the party to be thrown at Richard's house. At the party, Carrie runs into Jack Berger, who asks her out. Meanwhile, Miranda and Steve unexpectedly start having sex again.
